The Grundel

As I didn't post any visual or written parts about my inspiration for my undertaker character, I thought I'd put some up now.

It was mentioned in the previous post, that the character borrows traits from both Mark Callaway's 'Undertaker' character, and Motorhead lead singer Lemmy. What I didn't mention was the main inspiration came from a cartoon character known as: The Grundel.

The Grundel, is one of the most well remembered villains from the cartoon series 'The Real Ghostbusters', paticularly because of his demeanour and cringing ability to snatch and influence children.

It is not so much, the physical shape etc. of the grundel that I was inspired by, but more so his attire, and the way he was drawn: alwas kept in the shadows, and had very little to actually say. Despite this, what he did say, was at the the time, and even now would be very contraversial. Lines such as: ''So pure, So fresh, But not for long'' '' Open the window, and we'll go away. Far from the adults'' were examples of creepy lines that the grundel would say in his 1st and only episode, before outraged parents had him removed from any future episodes.

His heavily shadowed apperance, long dark clothes and ability to corrupt and harvest souls surely made him an ideal candidate to borrow ideas from? In all honesty, I remember having nightmares of the grundel when i was a child, and one look at that grim face still sets something off in my head, but in light of that fact, he obviously was a well thought out character, just the kind I'm looking to produce myself.

This is a video of that episode, if anyone cares to take a look, I'm sure you'll agree, The Grundel makes for eerie watching.
