I've been toying and looking into the idea of 'The Simpsons' again. I know that one of my other essays were on the simpsons, and wasn't a fantastic piece, but I feel very strongly about this idea.
In paticular and episode called ''22 short films about springfield'' which is a parody loosely based on the Pulp Fiction movie and the film: 32 Short Films About Glen Gould.
the episode indeed shows 22 short films (skits in this case) all of which are parodies in their own right, and numerous cultrual digs and nods.
Basically i was wondering if this is an ok topic, and what kind of things i should be putting into the essay specifically about the episode?
Elly! Long time no hear from... the answer to your question is a resounding yes - and it's good that you're choosing one particular episode on which to focus... before I answer your question, how about putting a quick post together outlining why YOU think The Simpsons is so suitable, and what key ideas from the lecture series YOU think are 'at work' in an episode of The Simpsons... then we'll get our heads together :-)
ReplyDeleteYeah i've put this (albeit not intentionally)personal blog on a shelf so to speak. but after getting ahead with my group work i intend to ressurect it this week.
ReplyDeleteI'll do a little bit of back tracking through my lecture notes, and put the post up.
thanks!
