Latest Work Update

Hey there everybody, This update won't be in my usual video format due to some unforeseen circumstances. I just had to get my work which I have done up to show everyone. Hopefully things should be back to normal within the next week.

So without further a due, here are the finished concept blueprints for my weapon designs.

Here we have the Grapeshot. As with all the blueprints, key features and mechanisms were annotated. Also, as you can see with this image, the cockpit area is quite small in detail, therefore was given its own close up blueprint.

This is mostly for concept purposes, as the cockpit in the final piece will very rarely if at all be in view. It's still good practice and logic to design things like this though, in case of any future changes to my project.

Next we have the second manned weapon, being the Hell Lance. Once again, key areas and mechanisms are shown and noted. Also, the cockpit area is given its own blueprint to show it in more detail.

Despite the intention of this piece to show more detail, it is once again merely for an audiences purposes, as the cockpit area will be pretty much out of sight for the entire duration of my final piece.

Moving on to the handheld weapons now, and this piece shows the Ender 50cal. In all of its blueprint glory.

And finally we have the Spectre blueprint, showing its mechanisms and key features as well as having a brief description of what exactly this gun is capable of.

Now that the blueprints have been drawn up, it was a natural next step to outline which parts of the weapons would be split away or detachable etc.

The above images show just how and where these weapons will split, what kind of split that area is (see individual keys) and what kind of splits there are all together.

So, to look at what my next steps are I have to think about what needs doing. After speaking with Alan on Friday, I will now need to produce my base mesh for the weapons, as well as taking those concept pieces and adding some depth and shadow, just to show the audience what exactly each feature of the gun does or looks like.

So fingers crossed things get back to normal and next time I'll have a video again for you all.

Concept Progress

Please find below the concept Art featured in the video.

Baddie - Turnaround - colour

My villain character.
I plan to write up a full bio for each character, but I'd just like to point out, O'reilly isn't an evil mastermind, he's a crook, and a thief, who happens to be the most able out of the gang, therefore I haven't gone overboard on the evil looks.

Separate design sheets for his boots and neck buckle, will be drawn up, as everyones props are put there for specific reasons.

any way, hope the dark colours work well, as i wanted to separate him from my sidekick character.

any thoughts?

Next on the agenda

. upload class exercise scans
. upload hand drawn prep work
. draw up prop design sheets
. upload expressions

Sidekick Turnarounds Finished

Sidekick Deputy Freddie, shown in turnaround form.
Badge, hat and neck buckle props included.
Thoughts or suggestions here please! :)
EDIT: compressing the image file has severely reduced the quality, so before i upload a better suited image, please note that line work in particular is far sharper on the higher quality image.

Hero Turn Arounds Finished

My hero character - Manu, in his finalized turnaround form, spiritual bracelet included.

The bracelet has little detail in this piece, as i am designing it in higher quality as a standalone work.

any comments and suggestions welcome

Hero Turn Arounds - Colour - Without Props

I attempted to give the Hero a 'Disney' type ink, and I think it has made him look all that more heroic and 'of the people'.
He has a strong likeness to the main character from the Prince Of Persia game series, yet is almost entirely different aesthetically.

He is without his bracelet prop at the moment, as I'm yet to fully resolve this.
I also made changes form his original shape stances, and sketches (which I will be uploading).

If anyone can suggest any changes (hopefully nothing too major or that hasn't been noted already) then please feel free.

PS. 20 years of having a pair, but I still struggle drawing hands!

EDIT: clean up on line work and extremities to be posted soon

Character design (old)

Here is a character I designed in my final year of my National Diploma. He is a ''Sub-boss'' character in a game plot i also came up with.
The drawings started from mere ''blue line'' sketches and became a fully resolved character.
after background research and concepts, this was the finished result. I'm hoping to be as successful with my hero/villain/sidekick characters in this project.
There isn't much to say about this really, I hope you like the images, and if you have any comments then feel free :)

The All Singing All Dancing Telescope...

Well, almost. I've drawn up a fairly solid thumbnail/storyboard hybrid of what will happen in my animation. The reason being, as I've known for a while what I wanted to do, and would rather spend more time knocking out a few gag reels and movement tests than going through the motions.

It's definitely solid, but I'll let it speak for itself.
Please excuse the tea stain on the first page ... *face-palm*
